Frequently Asked Questions

I need a apico (surgery to remove an infection in a root canal). What should I expect?

It is a routine procedure on front teeth and involves an incision near the end of the root tip and then a surgery to remove the root tip and remaining infection. The root is then sealed with a filling and healing is fairly rapid. If this is a root on a back tooth (one having multiple roots) then the surgery is more complex, but has the same outcomes. If the tooth is otherwise healthy and has good bone supporting it still, then this is an excellent way to preserve that tooth in your mouth.
