Frequently Asked Questions

I am 30 years old and my bite has become more and more crooked over the years. When I open my mouth my jaw deviates to the left. These issues have been casuing me tooth pain and jaw pain and my dentist has had to shave down certain teeth to keep them from banging together and causing pain. Am I too old for braces? Would they even help? What do you suggest?

30 is still young and if your bone support is sufficient, there is no reason you shouldn't seek orthodontic care. The second symptom you mentioned about your jaw deviating upon opening, could be a sign of other problems with the joints of your jaw or even an abnormal growth pattern of your jaw. Your dentist should be able to treat your situation or refer you to a specialist.
