I have an abseth tooth that has made the whole left side of my face swell up and its very painful. It was a 3 day weekend so I suffered threw it and went to the dentist on tuesday. He opened the tooth and left it that way then cut my gums to let it drain. He put me on clindamycin 150mg 2 pills every 6 hours and gave me vicoden. As the night went on the pain became worse and when I woke up the swelling was even more. Why wont it drain and what is the worst case senario if it wont.

Sometimes the infection has to be surgically opened in order to drain. You should seek care right away.
