Frequently Asked Questions

My 8 year old has a large lump in his gum above his upper 1st molar. This is a baby tooth. There is also a dark area at the root of this tooth. He only has pain when he pushes on the lump. Should I be concerned about infection? Should I encourage him to wiggle the molar even though it is not loose? He has had other permanant teeth come in behind baby teeth which we quickly had him wiggle out, but this lump is on the outside of the gum Thanks

Pain and swelling are signs of infection and he should be taken to your dentist.
