Frequently Asked Questions

I've been told by my dentist that if I don't pay for "Premium" crowns on my upper front teeth, there will always be a gap at the gum line as the regular crowns DentaQuest discounts will never fit without the gap. But Permium ones will always fit. It's about 2 times more money out of my pocket. I need advice? I don't expect you to discuss the dollar amount another dentist charges, but I do need your opinion as to why inferior crowns/caps are used as a general practice, according to the office of my dentist, and your views on the difference between a regular vs premium crown. Finally, is it your opiinon I will have the gap with one but as promised no gap with the other? I have an appointment to begin the part of treatment on the week of June 14th. Won't you please give me your opinion and any other information available prior to that date? Thanks

I hope there is a miscommunication between you and your dentist. There is no such thing as a "premium" crown or a "regular" crown. Your insurance benefit covers crowns that should fit well, last a long time and be esthetically pleasing. If you have a need for an especially esthetic appearance, there are additions to crowns that you may choose. These may include a porcelain margin under the gumline or special staining to match adjacent teeth. Most dentists have modest additional charges for either of these situations.
