SHARE YOUR DATA FROM ANOTHER PLAN

Coming in 2027. The Payer to Payer API is a safe and simple way for you to share your health information from a previous plan with DentaQuest. It allows DentaQuest to understand your dental history and support a smooth transition of your care.

How to share your information with DentaQuest

Starting January 1, 2027
 
  1. Create or log into your DentaQuest member account.
  2. Click on the Manage my Data button next to the member name.
  3. Click on the Dental Plans tab.
  4. You will see the see all the members associated with your account and your current sharing preferences for each one.
  5. Click "Add a Payer."
  6. Enter details about your old plan, including:
    • The Insurance company
    • Group or Policy Number
    • Member/subscriber ID
    • Dates of coverage
  7. Submit your request.
  8. DentaQuest will securely ask your old plan for your information. If the request is successful, DentaQuest will add the information to your dental health record.
  9. You must give permission before we ask for your data.

How to share your DentaQuest information with a new plan

Starting January 1, 2027, to share your dental history:

 

  1. Contact your new plan
  2. Give them your DentaQuest member number
  3. They will ask DentaQuest for your records
  4. If we confirm your information, we will send your dental history to your new plan

Frequently Asked Questions

No. You choose if you want to share your information. We only request your data if you tell us to ask for it.

Yes. Your information is shared using secure systems. Only approved information is exchanged between plans.

Plans may share up to a set amount of past information. Some rules limit how much history is included.

California Health and Safety Code (H&S Code) § 130290 was enacted in 2021 and establishes the creation of the California Health and Human Services Data Exchange Framework (“Data Exchange Framework”), which requires certain data sharing among providers and other health care organizations.
